Video Podcast Featuring Interviews with the Legends and Icons of Country Music
"What's the use in dreaming if you don't believe in the dream?" This quote defines Brit Jones, the host of Throwback. He grew up in a small town in Georgia, where he discovered his love for music at an early age. As a young boy and into his teenage years, he would sing to the top of his lungs anywhere and everywhere, while listening and studying the voices of his heroes, such as Billy Dean, Marty Roe of Diamond Rio, Tim Rushlow of Little Texas, Hal Ketchum, and Garth Brooks. Eventually, he signed a management deal in Nashville and started recording songs, along with performing at festivals. He was also a featured artist at BB KINGS and Douglas Corner during CMA FEST. He has also performed at the famous Tootsie's in downtown Nashville and was again a featured artist who sang at the Glen Campbell movie premier event. He has opened up shows for a wide variety of artists such as John Berry, Bryan White, Shawn Mullins, Jamie O'Neal, Brett Young, Casting Crowns, and many others.
In 2021, he and his long-time friend, Grizzly Fowler, formed a very successful cover band called Matchbox Rodeo. They did over 75 shows that year all over the country, connecting with new fans while learning the ins and outs of "touring life" on the road. He booked the tour and managed the social media along with PR responsibilities. Brit has always had a gift for entertaining and connecting with crowds of all sizes.
He achieved great success with his song "Bulldog Saturday," which he wrote for his Georgia Bulldogs football team. The song became very popular, especially among college students in Athens, Georgia and the hit single ended up being a featured song at UGA's Sanford Stadium. Later, he released the "Who I Am" country music EP, which featured five original songs, including the hit single "Garth." The song stayed in the top position for 12 weeks on the fan-voted weekly radio show "Backyard Country" on 94.9 The Bull out of Atlanta. He then released the other four songs from the EP, all of which also garnered the top position for multiple weeks over the course of that year. He has also co-written songs and developed friendships with hit songwriters in Nashville, such as Scott Reeves (Made in America, Toby Keith), Tyler Hayes (Bring it On Home, Little Big Town), and Mac Powell of Third Day who co-wrote with Brit on the song, "Green Nova".
As an independent artist, he has built strong relationships with his heroes of 90s Country, including Tim Rushlow (the voice of Little Texas), award-winning country star John Berry (Your Love Amazes Me), and many other industry professionals including well-known producers, managers of touring acts and top of the line studio musicians who have all imparted their knowledge and experience to Brit. He has toured with John Berry and learned many aspects of the music business from him, including tour management, public relations, marketing, and the logistics of booking artists on a national level. Through this friendship and mentorship, Brit was able to connect with many other industry leaders who shared their knowledge and "stories from the road" with him. On top of all of his experience in Nashville and touring, he has consistently been a "student of the game," learning more and more each day, making him a trusted and knowledgeable country music history buff which has landed him opportunities to be the announcer and emcee for concerts and various other events.
The Throwback Country Music Show became a reality through Brit's journey. In 2018, during a flight to Colorado, Brit came up with the idea for a possible country music interview show. He wanted to take some time to clear his mind and focus on his next chapter in life. While hiking in the Rocky Mountains, he found a small lake where he sat down by the water under some beautiful trees with breathtaking scenery everywhere he looked and journaled his thoughts and ideas for this podcast to actually happen. After returning home from his time out West, his dream took off within two weeks. With his marketing background and music industry connections, he invited his first guest, Grand Ole Opry member, and four-time Female Vocalist of the Year, Lorrie Morgan to be on the new Throwback show. Over the next two years, Brit interviewed Living Legends, several Grand Ole Opry Members, Grammy Winners, ACM and CMA Award winners, and #1 hit songwriters turning his little idea of a podcast into something really special. The show would eventually be recognized by various charts as one of the top most listened-to music/interview podcasts in the country ranking with other popular shows hosted by artists such as Terri Clark, Grainger Smith, and Tracy Lawrence.
Fast forward to now, Brit Jones has partnered with Blue Beam Media and Spotify Podcasts Distribution for "Throwback Country Music" to be an exclusive, nationwide, weekly Podcast and YouTube show that will start in November 2023.
"We have great faith in Brit's love and knowledge of country music history, along with his 20-plus years of experience in the music industry itself, along with his genuine respect for the artists he interviews. He values his listeners' input and incorporates their feedback into the planning of each episode to ensure they are engaged and entertained. After learning about the enthusiasm and hard work behind the show, we have no doubt that Brit cares deeply about the artists and musicians from the golden era of '80s and '90s country music and that he will always honor their legacy by highlighting their journeys in a way that shows his love and admiration for them.
